Lindsay Building
Enlarge text: smaller | larger
Located at the intersection of three major thoroughfares
in downtown Winnipeg, the Lindsay Building is one of a
handful of terra-cotta office towers erected during the
city’s pre-World War I development boom.
Notre Dame had vied with Portage Avenue to become downtown’s
second major street. While Portage won out, Notre Dame continued
to attract substantial development. Within the vicinity of
the Lindsay were the Electric Railway Chambers, the Oxford
and St. Charles hotels; and the Walker and Province theatres.
